Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Human health is negatively impacted by heavy metals. Exposure to these metals has been increased by human activities and modern industrialization. Contamination of water, land, and air by toxic metals is a global environmental problem which affects living organisms. Food contamination with heavy metals is another concern for human and animal health. Numerous short- and long-term harmful consequences of the impact of heavy metals on multiple body systems have been identified. These lead to health issues which include impaired kidney and gastrointestinal function, neurological problems, skin lesions, vascular damage, immune system malfunction, birth defects, and cancer. These chemicals first cause cell toxicity by deactivating antioxidant systems, which leads to excessive increases in the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), oxidizing biomolecules, and the consequent disturbance of the cell redox equilibrium. In turn, the disruption of the redox state promotes the onset of inflammatory processes which alter tissue morphology, cell growth, cell function, and cell viability.

Journal of Biological Regulators and Homeostatic Agents invites submissions of original research studies or review articles which focus on summarizing and further elucidating the causes of heavy metals toxicity and its related diseases.

Topics for this call for papers include but are not restricted to:

• Hazardous effects of heavy metals toxicity on human and animal health

• Human and animal diseases related to heavy metals

• Cellular and molecular insights underlying heavy metals toxicity

• Toxicological aspects of heavy metals toxicity

• Biomarkers of heavy metals toxicity and oxidative stress

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://www.biolifesas.org/journalx_brha/authorLogOn.action by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
